Oh yeah, thought flag indicator was the "Battlements; Flagroom" message when it's dropped. What's that one called? DropFlagLocator?

Definitely remove slower movement and flag indicator

The only negative scenario I can think of by removing the flag indicator is if someone runs off with the flag, teehee, and drops it somewhere obscure, and doesn't tell anyone, or people simply forget where the flag is and have to wait for a return. I doubt this would happen often though. Oh, and trying to tell new players where to go in AvD instead of just saying "go to that floating circle" (though, on the flip side, I think it's pretty obvious where to go in most cases, and shouldn't be hard to explain).

Teamwork would definitely increase, as would the need for voice comms, and more strategic capping could open up on a number of maps as a result.

Why not only get rid of the flag indicator while someone is carrying the flag? When it's dropped, the flag indicator appears.

Works for me. And offense would still have the "CAPTURE THIS POINT" indicator, it would be defense that loses the view.

The flag indicator isnt TOO bad for pubs imo, helps new players find the flag and learn where to go.

I think there might be a cvar to disable it for pickups/league play, but I'm not sure what it is. Out of all the times we have played ADL pickups, we have had the flag indicator enabled because no one knows the command to disable it.

What's wrong with the flag indicator? How about having no element of surprise at all? Instead of thinking "Oh, where are they going to jump from", I now think "OH BOY HES COMING THROUGH THAT DOOR WITH THE FLAG TIME TO SPAM IT!"
first off since when do pickup players play avd maps.

firstly i think removing the speed reduction and adding the flag toss would be a good ideas maybe even making dustbowl a bit larger in some areas to incorporate the new levels speed could be completed in. however I think adding something else to the equation would add even more strategy and level of interaction. on both maps like dustbowl and regular ctf maps.

here what i think should be added the ability to block the flag so i can throw the flag but the flag doesn't go thru player models rather gets stopped by them this adding a whole new element of ctf/avd and the flag tossing strategy. this way defenses aren't helpless when flags are thrown and have a way to prevent them from getting a throw off or stopping it from going full distance.

taking this idea one step further why not allow flags to get tossed around a bit by the random chaotic explosions that happen in the FF battlefield.
ive played over 50 league ADL matches and im sure plenty of pickuppers have too. just because you waste time typing pointless long paragraphs doesnt make your post relevant. give up, this idea is terrible.

Oops, missed the "explosions knock flag around" part.

Terrible idea.

2 pages in, I say it's flamewar time.

You're telling Alex to get over himself when you couldn't resist typing a massive self-aggrandizing "joke" post?

Get over YOURself, sir.

The truth hurts, trust me.

Thoughts on this? I think the flag should be revealed upon toss, but once in attacker's hands disappears from defender HUD.

At the very least, eliminate movement speed with flag, tossable or not tossable?

Yay/Nay? This is the last moment to get a few tweaks get rolled out.

I agree. This should be implemented in the next version of FF.

I think the flag icon should be visible to everyone when the flag isn't being carried. When the flag is being carried, the flag icon should only be visible to the attacking team, not the defending team.
