You do know what theory means, right? In application to science, that is. Atomic theory, for example.

PS You're number 2.

It's not really a theory. More of a philosophy.

You might not believe this, but there are some people who think that if there are aliens in the universe, they are demons...

You think that the scientific method is a wrong way to go about things? if so, what's your proposition for discovering new information about our universe and the way it works? Science is not something that produces absolutely correct answers all the time. Findings are tested, duplicated and re-duplicated, with the input of all those involved increasing the understanding and knowledge about a particular topic. Often times new research will break the current understanding of a theory and thus that theory requires revision. As the understanding becomes more and more refined, our knowledge of that particular topic grows and new things become possible.

You mean like, the demons that don't exists? Those people's beliefs should not be a great concern for us, when you ask them what they have to go on for those beliefs they will probably have either nothing or will say that we can't disprove them.

EDIt And Yes, Blowatoes I'm not sure how you can think the scientific method is wrong as a whole. It is the only way to find facts other than pure luck.

No, I mean they think that if there are aliens, they believe them to be some sort of supernatural entity rather than another form of biological life from another planet.

This is where it gets stupid, when people blindly say Science = Fact. When Science = Method that a few people think was the best for gaining information.
Anyone who blindly accepts anything is an idiot.

To make a blanket statement like that, is sheer idiocy. Based on the (assumed) age of the universe, it is quite possible that there are beings that we would consider to be, "Supernatural". It isn't like all inhabited planets formed at the same time, and chances are species around the universe have evolved differently, based partially on physiology, and partially on environment.

It is quite possible we could eventually encounter a race of beings made of silicon. Or even some sort of metallic creatures.

Well the people who think this are usually the more fundamentalist religious people that I've observed over the years on various religious forums. Personally I think that if we meet any aliens there isn't going to be anything supernatural about them. Maybe something about them we don't understand, yes, but nothing supernatural.

Supernatural things do not exist. Some creatures may appear so to us but from a non-relative perspective supernatural means that not all of their traits can be explained naturally (such as super heroes, whose powers break all the fundamental laws of physics and other such restrictions coded into the universe), which basically amounts to magic or divinity or other such synonyms for bullshit.

There could be a more accurate school of thought that yields results current science can't - that shows us the real truth behind what we see. Maybe everything we think and everything we study is, deep down, wrong.

Just because it all adds up now and the current method works doesn't mean it's right or that there isn't an alternative out there.

Curiously enough that's sort of a cornerstone of the scientific method.

This may be slightly off topic but *if* we were to meet another life form, and they were of similar intelligence, shouldn't we be embarrassed with the current condition that this world is in? Another 2 cents: Why are people so threatened by science?
