Doesn't that sort of leave the actual decisions up to the people that are capable, and willing, to do it? It's not an issue if you have people that can suck it up and do what the team thinks is best, but sometimes that isn't always the case. Just wondering.

Yeah, basically.

But if someone does something drastically bad, people complain and the change is either reverted or changed to something better.

So it's like Wikipedia, but for a game?

That's great until someone releases ff_circtakesitupthebutt in the final compile because they edited it right before the release branch was made.

Sort of. I'd imagine the difference would be that a lead dev would list out what every person should be doing and have them only do said work. If they didn't complete it correctly they would get the boot. Or something.

I wanted to add surfable walls to waterpolo, but I just never got around to doing it.

I love surfing in CS:S. I did that for about a month straight a few years ago. Even copied some of those maps over to the old FF dev build to surf around as FF classes. Good times.

FF needs more surf maps.

What is a surf map anyways?... I've never tried that but everyone seems to agree that it's great. I'm wondering what the hell I've been missing.

To make a surfable suface, you essentially just have to angle a face too steep to walk up.

Then you can slide across it really fast.

So people have made massive surf maps, where you slide down these tracks, doing jumps and other cool shit like that.

Just load up CS:S and search for servers on maps starting with surf and you'll get to experience it.

Just be prepared for lots of shitty mapping. Great gameplay in most, but also god damn shitty mapping for the most part...

I've always thought it would be fun to make a Tony-Hawk style skatepark map for concs and RJs, but I didn't think you'd be able to keep up your momentum and stuff. I never played CS:S much so I had no idea what surfing was until now.

Maybe some downhill kind of thing where you have like half-pipes and stuff, jump through fiery hoops, shark across water... that'd be bitchin'.
