I would par-take in such events 8D
Only the money factor. Yea... no. Due to the fact that it would seriously drive people away when they would play against teh Fellas. No one is going to spend money knowing Vinny, Gator, Killu, Hoop, or Exo will kick the shit out of your FF skillz and your wallet. |

Matt I don't know how long you have been around the TFC scene but the fellas were not the best players in TFC and by far not in the best Clans in TFC, so even if some of the Really good TFC players came over it would be an interesting Tournement

Just in: FF's community is broke!
Anyways, 4v4 sounds extremely fun but I will point out that some teams will struggle to stop 4 offense players. We'll see how it goes. I would pay up to $25.00 but not anything higher. Get this going with EGL imo. @ Tim: LoL You remind me of Barack Obama

We've been playing FF solid for a year. TFC is old news.
I will consider setting this up via EGL. $10 entrance fee sounds do-able. Prizes to 1st, 2nd, and maybe third depending on how many teams sign up. (which means you wouldn't have to beat the goodfellas to get your money back and then some) Last edited by Hoopajoo; 10-01-2008 at 10:40 PM. |

Wow. Even I am getting tired of this bickering.
Either be IN the competitive scene and beat the Goodfellas (and stop talking trash until you do), or stay OUT of the competitive scene and stop talking trash full stop. Simple as that. It's not even the Goodfellas that are instigating these squabbles anymore, and it's getting old. Seriously.

OK. So.. here i go.
@Squeek GTFO, U are not in the competitive scene so i dont even see why you are posting here, besides the fact you are a mod. @ all the FELLAS You are quite the unbeatable team right now. Get The Fuck Over it. Play and Have FUN! And own EVERYONE while your at it. @ Myself SHUT UP YOU! FFS. @ Everyone else Yea, This thread wasn't meant for gd flame war. 4v4 OvD league , Fuck Yes. Pay for it? I honestly doubt that shit. Too many ways to cheat the system. And as everyone has already stated, Paying to play? Fuck That. Get a job to make money, Not a game. *NOTE This post was instigated by a few beers, an anti-elitist attitude, and a pool company that wont show up to fix thier $60,000 piece of equipment in my backyard. |

It's not like this upcoming tournament is asking you to start up a career in professional gaming. It's just a tournament, not a job. You're given money if you come up all the way to the top. The idea to win money during your free time is not a bad idea. Quote:

My point still stands. You could have successfully challenged it if you showed that I was a hypocrite, but I that is an impossible feat in this instance.

Alright, I'll give a quick summation of what has been said here thus far:
1. Most people are against paying cash for a league regardless of prize. 2. Most people are interested in this league. 3. Some people are interested in a 4v OVD tournament with a fee and a prize for the top 3 sets of players.

So it's decided:
1. some of us can read and 2. most of us can write. |

my thoughts:
1. for many reasons i'm very strongly against the idea of anyone having to pay any money to play in any FF competition. 2. i would love to see more 4v4 ovd competitive play, as it's with "full" def/offy (and the right maps ofc) that tf excels. it's also obviously a convenient stepping-stone to full ~8v8 if player numbers continue to rise, which hopefully an increase in 4v4 play would help. 3. combing EU and USA would be great if other ppl involved don't mind the consequences (i.e. play each map twice, once on each server). 4. relatively quick turn around is extremely important in order to encourage new teams/players to commit to try playing for a full season. i think a standard league format that lasts no longer than a month (before resetting and starting again with a new season) would be best. only have divisions if there are too many clans to get all the games completed in the desired season length (i.e. don't have them just for the sake of it as it). 5. there should be 3 different league tables, all based on the same match results: a main league table that uses full match scores to calculate points/rankings; an offy league table that only uses each team's "for" match scores; a def league table that only uses each team's "against" match scores. obviously the one ppl would want to win would be the main league, but this system would hopefully encourage teams/players who think they can defend or attack quite well, but not do both, to enter and have a chance of doing well in the relevant "sub-league". 6. if the league catches on it could also be v fun to do "weekend cup" type things to encourage new teams/players to have a go, but that definitely comes secondary to establishing a basic league. 7. while i'm strongly against anyone paying anything to participate, i think a small incentive for teams to try their best to win would be extremely effective. what i propose is that a sponsor provides a "champions" server, and the winning team gets rcon and use of that server until next time. |
