Sadly, lack of bunnyhop was a large reason in why I moved away from FF - it was just so, useless? Gliding off concs is fun, however the problem for me was that only 2 classes have them.
(others reasons included lack of interest in FPSers, time and a kinda bad PC). I say, faster bunnyhopping please! |

Bhop must stay :<.
You want bhopless gameplay? Go play any of those new, ultra-supa-dupa-realistic graphics, war-oriented, slow-moving FPSes that are popular right now. |

So the elitists have voted...26 so far.
When FF was first released, there were over 100+ "22 player" servers PACKED with players. That's 100 X 22 = 2200 people+ playing the game at one time. It's too bad that those 2200+ players can't be here to vote..would be interesting to hear what they have to say. Not just the BHOP but other things. |

Bunny hop doesn't provide a poor advantage. It's a scape goat for the lack of players and has nothing to do with it.
It existed in a greater detail in TFC and that was an amazing mod. So few people were against it, an apparently not against it enough to take the 30 seconds it took to learn how to use it effectively. It's survived the test of time. People played it and liked it by the thousands. I think brining it up now should be done in more honest of ways. You of course can not like it, or not think that it's a good idea. But that doesn't mean it should be removed from the game. I think it was cause more harm than good if that were the case. |

Right now the advantage is so indiscernable that it does not matter either way.
When BHOP is back in and it actually matters, then this discussion will matter. BHOP example, back when it was 120/125: I was a Scout running with the flag. Skanky Butterpuss was a Pyro. Although a Scout can outrun a Pyro, he caught up to me enough and burninated me because he could BHOP and I could not. Let us see how it works out when the cap goes up moar.

Thats another thing I had on my list..........
Those damn and pesky pyros have really been enhanced. Those fire bombs or what not spread all over the damn place and now I have to duck from them and sometimes pass them up on O if moving to the flag. Do you know how many times I would pass up a pyro in TFC on my way to the flag.....NONE!!!!! Those burning machines can really decrease my health or kill me. To all of the Pyros out there!!!!!!! I have deep rooted issues with you.

I didn't bhop in TFC, in FF I do. Its way easier than it was in TFC and when someone bitches about it, then add them to your friend list and teach them. I have teach 3 people already how to bhop and if we all do our part then this is a not a problem. Also being an Elistist has nothing to do with this. Maybe in TFC and past TF games it was but not in FF.
Soundchaser is you are having a problem bhoping, then I'll be glad to teach you ;D and this goes to anyone else.

Like it's been said everyone is naff at first, you must learn. And what has also been said it it takes 10 seconds to look up. There's no excuses. Even in GoldSource mods.

Bunnyhopping is so amazingly simple in Fortress Forever that my 8 year old brother can do it easily with less than an hour of practice. They practically made it bunnyhop FOR you. I suppose if people have problems with it, we could implement Arx's tuts into the game as little videos that play in the corner on some sort of training map. I doubt this would happen but, it would definately help some people.

I can't BHop worth a damn, and I vote to keep it in. Of course, I also vote to bring back the spread of infection, making SGs vulnerable to 2 frag nades, and a few other things everyone else ignores. So much for BHop.

*Waves to Hired-gun* How ya been?
OP has to define BHOP before I will vote in the poll. The bounciness and air control of FF is really fun. I like trimping down inclines. However, IMHO major speed gains should be dependant on weapons and map geometry. No one should be able to break class speed rules any time they want. Why? because it's not tactically interesting. If I'm trying to defend against a constant bhopper, I know he'll be going by at high speed, wherever I meet him. Boring. If he's just using concs to speed around, That's a limited resource and I can try and meet him where he is NOT concing. Nobody complains about the front door launcher on Aardvark. That's not because anyone can use it, it's because it's limited to that one spot and you can plan around it. If people could launch themselves around like that any time they wanted, it would change the game, in a very bland way. |
