and yeah innoc, Caesar Milan is the host/star of a TV show called The Dog Whisperer which airs on the National Geographic channel. Pretty awesome show but once you've seen 2 or 3 of them you've seen them all.

The shows are all pretty much the same situation: there's a dog who is not getting enough structured exercise & discipline and then there are the human owners who let the dog do whatever and think the dog is their child or best friend. They're basically push-overs who have never stopped the dog from doing anything ever and encourage or re-enforce the dogs bad behavior. Caesar comes in and trains the humans and shows them how to be pack leaders and then the dogs fall in line easily thereafter. Some of these people on the show are absolute idiots. Even the ones who claim they've watched the show are still completely clueless it's ridiculous.

Anyway, he was in Seattle doing a conference thing in like July of 07 and my wife, mother-in-law, and I all went; it was cool seeing him in real life. He's short.

Just a quick note, any dog that will take a command after viciously biting you is unstable and will need to be put down. If your dog bites you hard enough to cause serious injury it's time to get rid of it, the dog is untrustable. Don't mistake his/her taking a command as it making a mistake and "it'll be ok", it won't.

If you train your dog correctly, you won't have this problem.

Not always. It could be indicative of a condition that has caused the behavior change. A properly subordinated dog won't bite but illness or other conditions can cause it to break that conditioning.

My old babysitters dog had to be put down because it bit her son. Little did she know that her son beat and kicked the dog on a regular basis. Tell me if that's justification... It was a dalmatian which some people also say is a very aggressive dog.

If dogs are treated properly, cared for, fed normally, and loved, the chances of any dog attacking someone is very small, regardless of the breed.

I agree. That said I would never allow a dog to continue living that broke pack protocol by deliberately injuring any human...aside from an intruder of course. But then I have a lab and her effectiveness with an intruder would be zero. The only reason she'd even bark at intruder would be to let you know that she's running away and that you're on your own...
