Because the paths aren't complete, they need to actually link to something.

hmm, I havent ran FF through hammer since they changed to the OB engine and changed the setup all around. Seems that hammer comes to a crawl after setting up everything for FF with hammer. Any ideas? Also, this talk about the ff_base.fgd, where does it go? Just curious since you said you didnt add it.
Scratch that, got it working now lol. Last edited by Sacrifist; 05-09-2008 at 02:51 AM. |

I was getting that error, but from testing FF installs I had multiple installs going, then got rid of them kept the latest FF install but it wasn't same folder I originally browsed to even though the path read the same. so try browsing to all the locations in the options when your setting FF up.

Any chance of getting the OP updated with new pics for the ones that no longer show up?

I went ahead and updated the tutorial in a video format. If something is wrong let me know and I'll redo it.

I know, right? That is the simplest work around; you can also copy the 2009 game config file to the 2006 config file(remove all the games like TF2, DoD:S, etc) as a work around, I think. But that way is more involved

I'm having troubles with sdk. When I load it up and I go to select fortress forever, it won't let me select it. It just defaults back to another game. I'm not sure if this is because I have two FF folders now (One named fortressforeverMO and the other being fortressforever, I switch between the two in order to keep customs out of my videos, and rename the folders each time i switch to keep track of them) or maybe if it's because of deleting my userdata folder to fix ID errors.
Originally I had to create a fake game directory to open hammer in the 2006 engine because I don't have hldm to launch hammer with. And now that fake game is what it defaults to, which doesn't help me because I already deleted that folder. Basicly I can't launch hammer in the 06 engine. FDA, im going to show you the easiest way ever to setup hammer, dont even have to launch hammer. It's what I had to do because of stupid hammer bugs.
1. First, navigate to your steam user account folder, which should be C:/program files/steam/steamapps/youraccountname/ 2. Then open the sourcesdk folder, then bin, then ep1, then bin again. 3. Open up GameConfig.txt and replace everything in it with this: Code:
"Configs" { "Games" { "Fortress Forever" { "GameDir" "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\sourcemods\FortressForever" "hammer" { "GameData0" "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\sourcemods\FortressForever\ff_base.fgd" "GameData1" "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\sourcemods\FortressForever\fortressforever.fgd" "TextureFormat" "5" "MapFormat" "4" "DefaultTextureScale" "0.250000" "DefaultLightmapScale" "16" "DefaultSolidEntity" "func_detail" "DefaultPointEntity" "info_ff_script" "BSP" "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\yournamehere\sourcesdk\bin\ep1\bin\vbsp.exe" "Vis" "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\yournamehere\sourcesdk\bin\ep1\bin\vvis.exe" "Light" "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\yournamehere\sourcesdk\bin\ep1\bin\vrad.exe" "GameExeDir" "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\sourcemods\FortressForever" "MapDir" "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\sourcemods\FortressForever\maps\vmf" "BSPDir" "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\sourcemods\FortressForever\maps" "CordonTexture" "tools/toolsskybox" "MaterialExcludeCount" "0" } } } "SDKVersion" "2" } Should work after that. |
