Hi i got a epipone LP goldtop, just had it rewired and new seymour-duncan pickups put in, sounds ace now, through a marshall 100mgdfx. Also got a pants acoustic, looking into getting a new acoustic or maybe electro-acoustic, not sure. Have a boss br-8 64 digital recorder as well but the onboard effects never seem to sound too good, still trying to find the best way to get a good meaty guitar sound on it without it sounding clippy.
And speaking of disadvantaged guitarists as well as alltime greats, no ones mentioned Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), who despite losing his fretting-hand finger tips in a metalworks accident when Sabbath were starting out, kept on playing after making himself new fingertips from melted-down fairy liquid bottles. YOU CAN NOT GET MORE ROCK THAN THAT. Listen to any sabbath record and testify! |

I dunno, I prefer the Demons and Wizards version of "White Room" to Cream's.

No way (though I can't say that I've heard the demons & wizards version).
(or any demons & wizards song for that matter) |

yeah, its been looming over my head for a while. when i get a minute, i'll trade this and my jackson JS-20 in (keeping the pickups of course) or ebay them or whatever, and get one decent guitar.. i'll budget myself £600-£1000ish i think. i'm open to suggestions...
thing is, i play metal, but i also play old school rock to myself too |

Wasn't talking to you mang.
BUT I'd get a strat. For metal though a HSS strat would be best, as humbuckers get a heavier distorted sound. Then you could get a coil tap thing installed so you can can switch the bridge pickup from humbucker to single coil. That could get a good sound for any type of music. |

ah, didnt even see FT's post :/ lol
yeah, i've got tapped coils on the dimarzios, so that's already an option i've got a craaaaazy wiring diagram handy for anyone that's interested. it allows parallel/serial switching on both pickups, phase reverse between the two pickups, and the neck pickup has the option of going single coil. my only problem is that i need four push pull pots, something i need to get round to ordering from rapid electronics soon.. i might bundle them in with the parts for that valve amp i'm making |

Hmm, '67 strat only 20 grand on eBay... tempting.
Anyhoo, Gretsch Falcon still my dream. Haven't really played around much, but if I get a strat, it'll be probably a 70's sunburst. Those run around 1200 on eBay depending on the wear. New guitar I'm leaning toward an Ibanez. |

Can't remember which model I was playing, but it was really good.
Bah, next time I drop by Long and McQuade I'll tell ya. EDIT: I think it was this one; Played so easy. But then again, any guitar feels good compared to mine... |

Ok, sorry for dragging up a semi-old (but good) thread but I have a quick question. Does anyone here have experience with the PreSonus Firepod?
Clicky Clicky Link I didn't read much about it since I'm in a hurry right now but what are your thoughts? Also, have any recommendations for guitar processors? Kinda just wanna play around but have the equipment to do more than "play" if I wanted to. |

that actually looks really good! i was gonna say the only downside is it's not expandable (no ADAT I/O) but then i read you can daisy chain another unit on! this looks smart. according to Sound on Sound the quality of the sound is nothing special compared to some other ones, but certainly nothing to complain about for the price! i give this my two thumbs up. i want one lol

nope. i dont know of any acoustic processors myself, because i use acoustic sounds raw. guitar rig is a good software based processor (also supports bass and drums), as is sansamp (if you're lucky enough to find it, let me know!) and for hardware, the pod is pretty awesome.
if you only want a half decent guitar input, consider its little brother, the firebox: http://www.zzounds.com/item--PRSFIREBOX |

What the fuck is up with Guitar Center? They have a sale every weekend, and it's always insane. 50% off guitars and amps, 50-60% off drums, etc., etc...
This week they've got a commercial where the prices are, evidently, so low... they can't advertise the price on the radio, for fear of upsetting their distributors and being sued. What the hell?

And I was looking at the PodXT mervaka, but its like $250. That with the $499 firepod is throwing me close to my budget already. |
