Which is probably why his post also said: "FEED ME".

Any map is easy against a crap opposition.

Except Mortality... you can pretty much suck balls and still hold the opposition to under 3 caps.

Ironically it's one of my favorites although quite possibly the most defensive map in TFC.

We tried everything.

HWGuys, Demomen, Engineers (with 3 SGs), detpacks (they worked sometimes), soldiers, blah blah...

The way epicenter is rigged now is just too easy.

Someone should start a project to remake every mulch_ and fry_ map. Those alone would make me cry less when switching to FF.

fryguy and mulch are on the dev team..hehe but I think are past their mapping phases. There was a really promising version of mulch_Trench from a community mapper..wish he would re-appear!

Yeah I figured they were a little too busy to port all their own maps. Also, that sucks about the mulch_trench situation. It's a trademark league map (as I'm sure everyone knows)... hope to see ff_trench someday!

I wanted to try to make my own version of the mulch_dm map, But I'd need his blessings + the boost of non-laziness for making textures. lol

A couple of decent snipers are very effective on this map. I think you need more blue-sky thinking to your def strats. SG's don't work too good as the slow lock on time means they have capped by the time they start firing; you need a more manual approach.

No, dude, look.

You put two SGs. One on each deck. One facing the fence (to take out concers in the air), the other on the other deck cleaning up people on the ground.

Dispenser on the cap point, dispenser somewhere else far away to blow up potential SG killers (sniper rifle, nailgun, rockets, etc.).

In TFC, this alone was ace... if you have one more guy running around and covering the wide space (with at least one Engy in the rear keeping an eye on the guns), this would be a fairly effective D. It might not completely defend the cap point, but it will slow them down a LOT.

It was pretty much the standard D setup on epicenter, at least on pubs AFAIK.

Now it just does not work for a variety of balance issues.

That is the good thing about this being in BETA, though. We can adjust that to compensate. A lot of stuff has to be changed here and there (tiny things really) to get the game balanced better.

There is probably a short list of stuff that needs to be addressed in the sense of increasing/reducing damage here and there, but I am not going to get into the specifics.

I realize you're speaking about just pubs, but this D wouldn't work at all in serious league play. In fact, no D really "works" as Circ was saying. Epicenter is just a race to cap. The cap point is a huge box entity around the back of the APC (there was a picture of this but I lost the link). The flag carrier just needs to get anywhere near the back to cap. If you have a good scout running the flags, neither gun will even track him before he caps. The key is to push forward and cover the launch points instead of trying to stay back and defend the APC. The longest I've ever seen a flag held ever was almost 9 minutes straight which was mind-boggling. Most runs take less than a couple minutes on average. But that's the fun of epicenter. The race to cap.

I don't remember if we tried Snipers or not.

It'd hafta be a pretty good one, to get the guy shooting around the corner like that.
