...and swarm.
What Kenny is failing to mention is that there are 16 bots on our server (OWOL). It makes for quite the swarm if you dont keep them in check. PS Im an OWOL admin, and I hate the fact that server 4 is so damn popular, haha. I prefer human opponents. |

First off, I am very excited to hear the beta is stable! Kinda disappointed that the mod is gasping for programmers 3 years in... But that is understandable considering that over 3 years people who thought they commit full time to the mod have situation changes, etc. It's nobody's fault really. Just kinda annoying for everybody around.
Questions to Beta Testers: 1. Is the main menu/tutorial system in place yet? If so, thoughts? 2. Are the unfinished maps (Palermo, Rock 2, Openfire) incomplete as in "NOT going to be ready in a month or so when release" or "Missing a few entities , models, stuff that can be fixed pretty quickly" 3. Which of you have the lowest spec PC and how's it run for that? 4. Demoman? Any good? 5. Anything in this game you don't prefer over it's TFC counterpart? 6. We saw a lot of crossover two years ago and now it's dissapeared from discussion. How's that lookin/playin? |

1. Main menu yes, tutorial not really.
2. Not going to be ready in a month or so/really unfinished. 3. My PC's fairly middle-of-the-road these days and it runs pretty well. 4. Same as TFC, but the detpack's flexible timer is nice. 5. ...actually, no. 6. Very unfinished.

Well the tutorials are all written up iirc, they just aren't fully implemented yet.
My PC is pretty bottom end, 'cause I'm waiting for my laptop to get repaired. The game itself plays really well, but doesn't look as sexy as it does on other computers. The devs did a good job of making it run on lower-end machines though.

Mine is similar: Athlon 2500+ Overclocked to 3200+ 1gig RAM Radeon 9800 Pro Runs smoothly at same res. I know a few guys have systems with lower specs than that. |

Like my mobo is by Asus, SLI ready and all that good shit, SATA capable. Fairly new. My proc is a nice Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (Dual Core). However, I only have 1GB of RAM and my graphics card is a RADEON 9250. That is PCI. No, not PCIe. P. C. I. My card has not had new drivers released for a veeeeery long time. Even so, the game still runs very well. So I would think that even on the low-end side FF would run pretty well.

Define 'very well' (what fps you normally pull on certain maps and what it drops to in firefight) and Pent. D is a pretty bad CPU, still beats my crappy Sempron 2800+ though.

Personally I've only had FF run twice for a few hours(hadn't had the time to play more) and I have to say it runs smoothly, but not as smooth as CSS, for example. I haven't checked the r_speeds of the ff maps, but seeing almost all of them still being in a development state, that could be the cause. Dunno, today I will mess around some more. Maybe it's just my shitty configured system, lol.

Wow. I'm really surprised that the mapping is not further along. I was under the impression that the team was doing fine team-wise with mappers. Very surprised...
I did a lot of mapping for TFC a year or so ago. I had some maps that I think were of pretty good quality. The only thing that stopped me from really going into HL2/FF was the annoyance of the new Hammer. Would it be stupid to send in an application/portfolio this late in development? My free time has expanded considerably. |

I doubt it would be worthless, cuz I think they'll continue to release maps after the release of the mod. |

Perhaps I'll get my portfolio together tomorrow. The thing is there's no job opening for a mapper right now...which is interesting because the maps are seemingly delayed. Oh well.
