What has been the FF team's planning methods?
I think you guys said that you have been planning this mod for more than a year now, which makes me wnder how you guys have progressed towards the final product.
For example, did you guys start by listing the bugs you wanted to be done away with listing all the new abilities the hl2 engine offered TF style gameplay then had a mighty long discussion on what needs to be done about class balance im sure the list is probably alot longer and complicated than that, im just interested to see a little insight of how the planning stages has worked. Thanks for your time. |

haha, Jiggles: you never cease to amaze me.
But as for the main question... Given a new engine, it was likely that various bugs wouldn't carry over. They were worth identifying, though. Before working on identifying bugs, and since the idea was to make a mod that was *like* TFC (in a lot of ways, but certainly not identical to)... Defrag created an amazing document that contained just about every aspect of TFC. All weapons, classes, etc - and very detailed characteristics & numbers corresponding each. To make the rest of the long story short... A list of desired changes came after that. Then various features and gameplay aspects were or approved / denied. Once the HL2/SDK came out, some research had to go into determining the features and capabilities of each. Various tasks were split among people based partly on their specialty and partly on what they're good at. The categories listed on the dev team site sort of emerged naturally. Tasks were further split up into manageable pieces... and little by little we're seeing the results. Hope this helps - I know it's not the most in-depth analysis possible, but it gives you an idea

It also contains an ingenious get rich quick scheme I invented. So we can't release it ;(
All I have to say is the document was well in excess of 100 pages and that i'm a huge, horrible nerd. |

I'm afraid that's no exaggeration.
The font is a normal-sized font, and the document reads like a whitepaper (if you're familiar with those). Defrag really is that big of a nerd ;D <3 fraggles. Doesn't say much for me, though, since I read the thing.
