Modeller?
What exactly are you using to make all the models?
Milkshape? Softimage|XSI? Maya? 3D Studios Max? I'm curious, since the unskinned renders seem to have an odd material applied to them to make the a dull, but bright color. |

This is always the modellers choice, whatever program a modeller is using, if he controls it it really doesnt matter. Ive seen great modellers using Milkshape and producing the most gorcious models ever and Ive seen newbies struggle with Softimage XSI and barely producing a boxlike body. Most people go for 3d studio max though as its (quite) easy to learn. I assume that what you mean is radiosity, this is not a material but this is a light technique used by modern render engines (e.g. Brazil, Mental Ray, VRay etc.) it creates the 'realistic soft shadows' under the models.
