Soundblaster X FI
Anyone using it? Why did you buy it and are you happy with the results? I am considering the platinum version...just curious about anyone's experience with it.

The general opinion seems that it kicks ass, the only downside being a show-stopper incompatibility with some not up-to-date nforce 4 boards.

how come we get new and better soundboards every year...when things like AC3 have been industry standard for TVs and cinemas for years?
im assuming it has more to do with the sound engineering side of things than the gaming/video side? |

I guess I'd better determine Nforce2 compatibility for now. I will build the new system next year but there's nothing that says I can't put the new sound card in my existing rig and just move it later. I am using an old SB Live Gamer edition.
The platinum appeals to me as it has a front mounted nice input panel that mounts in a 5.25 bay so I can easily feed my analog audio into my system for converting some of my vinyl to mp3. |
