How do I stop the grouping of related application windows in Windows 7?
Ok, so this has nothing to do with the Never Combine option in the Taskbar properties, and 7 Taskbar Tweaker application does not fix the issue either.
Say I have 3 windows open: [Microsoft Excel random doc.xls] [Firefox] [iTunes] Then, I want to open a new Excel document while keeping the already opened Excel document in its original position. This is the problem: [Firefox] [iTunes] [Microsoft Excel random doc.xls] [New Excel document] But I want it to do this: [Microsoft Excel random doc.xls] [Firefox] [iTunes] [New Excel document] Basically, I want a way to 100% entirely prevent any application that is currently open to group at all when I open a new window of the same application type. 1. Right click on an empty part of your taskbar and click properties.
2. On the "Taskbar" tab of the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window... 3. Under the section labeled "Taskbar Appearance" look for a dropdown labeled "Taskbar Buttons" and change that to "Never Combine" |

You may want to post a screenshot of what's bugging you to help those willing to try helping. What Anshinritsumai posted was what first came to mind for me as well. If that isn't it then, perhaps, a screenshot would help?

found a workaround if it works for you. You can copy over your entire office folder as example: "Microsoft Office_2" then you can run the excel.exe from both locations and windows sees it as 2 different programs.

Yeah but then I'd have to do that for every application like Firefox, IE, and all the other butt load of apps I use at work. Thanks for the suggestion though.
