Pipe Dreams

u buzzin? ^1%h ^2%a

But seriously folks, how do you like to lay your pipe traps?

All 6 out then reload?
4 out, reload, then 4 more?
2 out, reload, 2 out, reload, etc?

Discuss the merits of different loadouts in different situations and maps.

K thx bye.

Lay 2, joke's on you, lay 2 more, now it's 4.

Lay the next batch, but wait there's a catch: I'm really putting down 8, so fuck you and your scouts.

3 will kill anyone no problem, and its easy to follow up on esp if theres another offence behind the one you just killed

In pickups, the amount of pipes I use largely depends on the flags location. On destroy, for example, if the flag is still in security I will 8 pipe the flag (but recently i have been experimenting with piping flag and button at the same time ).

When the flag is moved up to the foyer however, since there is a constant rush of enemies, I usually won't have time to put 8 pipes on the flag, so I usually use 2 pipes and lay down more when there is a cease in the action.

I usually place 3 in a triangle round the flag about 4-5 feet away, then if I have time, I'll place the rest about 10 feet around the flag. It also depends on where the enemy will usually conc in from. It's less predictable to pipe on ofire than it is to pipe on aardvark, for example, because there are 2 general directions an enemy usually comes from opposed to ofire which is at least 4, plus 2 more positions O can jump from that can fake out most demos.

If it's a map like destroy or if I am guarding sec. on ofire, I like to place my pipes more outwards to cover more of the floor.

If I am feeling a bit lucky, I'll place my pipes directly on the flag in the exact same spot and throw a bag over them to hide em.

How about ff_baked?

Discuss offensive demo. Pros and cons.
I see it as "trade off movement for making openings for movement classes. " which works if scouts know how to exploit those short openings.

All depends on the map, where the flag is, and how fast enemies can get to it. If enemies are coming in slowly, more pipes. If enemies are coming in faster, less pipes. I will usually lay 2 or 3 around the flag and then spread out more around it. Larger radius helps compensate for reaction time and also some attackers don't seem to notice when your pipes are spread further out.

Offensive demo: very good at punching holes in enemy defense assuming you don't blow your teammates up. Not so good at movement unless you want to take out half of your health, which can be inadvisable since you don't have much to begin with. Offensive demoman works best on smaller maps where a lack of concs won't hurt as much. Also smaller maps usually = smaller rooms which makes the demoman that much better.

With the instant respawn it's hard to get more than 2 or 3 outside their spawn before they are back again

I just run around and blue pipe everything. Directs are fun, forget trapping.
