Badlands Generator Model (teamcolors)
Hi FF,
This is my first post. I used to play this a long time ago, and wanted to come back and start mapping. I remembered there were team colored generators that badlands had but I don't have the model file, and was wondering if anybody had them? Thanks |

Welcome back to FF!
I haven't even seen Badlands in this game, but a remake of the TFC version in FF would be badass. I never liked the TF2 one very much. :thumbs down: Good luck finding those generators! Last edited by CaptainAhab; 03-21-2012 at 11:55 PM. |

It's zipped into the .bsp file. If you open the map with GCFScape, you can extract it.

I had another question, if for instance now that i have the model, I wanted to make it purple or orange or black, etc, is there a way I can change the color? I am guessing the skin is in one of the four files associated with it.
Thanks! |

The .vtf files are textures. VTFEdit is the best program to convert those to another format that you can edit. Replacing one of the .vtf files with your own is the easiest way to reskin a model.

The problem with badlands beta 9 is that it's NOT awesome. It's like when a chick is deep throating you, then throws up all over your dick. In theory, the map is nice, but it's just bad. Really, reaaallly bad.

I did like you suggested, but when I put the model into the game, I still only have the four colors to choose from I am going to use the existing four colors, but I want to make a fifth color purple for the techno room. |

Well for one thing, it's bad, but then again, it is called badlands.
Anyway, when bhopping through either floor of the base, you often get stuck on pieces of the floor or walls or other things sticking out. The map does not flow very well with the inclusion of the new entrance into the flag room from above as well as the other entrance/exit, which should be button operated from above and below as well as it automatically going down when a player stands on it. The ladders on this map are fail, could be much better. No resupply bags in the valley on either side or on the bridge midmap. In the center of the map, my FPS drops from ~400 to under 150. I can't imagine how this plays for someone that gets ~100 FPS regularly. Map needs to be optimized. The map is overall kind of ugly. Looks like not a lot of time was spent carving out the rock to make it look right, at least in the valley area. I like the flag area design as well as the underground tunnels and front of the base, but other than that, it's just bad looking. |

If you want to go the easy route to color a model, put it in the map as a prop_dynamic and set a color from within Hammer. |
