Nuclear Dawn Source Mod
It's dubbed as an rts/fps game. Not something I liked at first but now that more info is out it kinda resembles the TF class style......kinda, but not really. It has a spy class that can sneak up on opponents (see here) and also has an engineer type function who can build turrets (here) and other tiny similarities, mostly weapons such as a minigun and grenade launcher. But those are almost standard now anyways.
I've been tracking this mod ever since I first heard about it and stopped around july when their website never got updated and their forums died down. Then out of nowhere I decided to look it up. Man was I amazed. The forums are still not quite as popular as say..FF's and INS's but I have hope for it. It also has new updates that I haven't seen until today. I think the first release might be long away but with these new screen shots and hopeful sounding updates I'll keep tabs on it. check here for their website: http://www.nuclear-dawn.net/ |

Yeah I thought that was cool too. In some games I just want to mess around and have fun killing people without getting raped (think insurgency). I don't quite understand the "RTS" part of it yet as they have been very vague. Hopefully it's like BF2's commander or Insurgency's in a way where they can be in battle yet be "overhead" like we all think of when we think of RTS games. But, we'll see.

If it were like, say, Starcraft, instead of seeing a bunch of Marines you control from the top down, you see your team and you do not actually control them. Where it goes from there, though... iunno.

i think this mod has potential, but i think they need to market themselves carefully, and offer something new that all the other mods dont. remember marketing source mods is hard work!

Not trying to start a flame war here, but didn't they fake some shots with posed character models?

Anyway, that mod team has got an incredibly talented modeling department. And mapping. Hopefully their coding and gameplay mechanics will match. |

If they did I'm not aware of that. I know that their models are well made and skinned and also animated. Their animator just got hired at DICE (of Battlefield fame) so I don't think there was any fake shots. Maybe early in the start, but I dunno. If that was the case I doubt it is reason to shun them now, take a look at what they've accomplished so far. This is just beautiful man. Might be posed using garry's mod or something to make it look so dramatic though. Here's a small very bad quality trailer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Uzc-Sqmcu9Y |

Free weekend.
So far, I'm loving it. Probably going to buy it, it's very polished and very well done. Props to InterWave.

I think its a buy. I have it now, pretty solid game imo. Very fun. You just have to have a decent commander, otherwise you will get smoked.
It's kind of like Natural Selection meets Fortress / Star Wars / Halo (Halo just as in futuristic robotic looking dudes, not gameplay wise at all) in a way.

My lazy ass left it at paused status and never got past 10% even though I am fully capable of downloading it in a good hour.
Was too busy with other games, missed it, did it have any form of AI-support?
