uTorrent 2.0?

Now that most trackers support uTorrent 2.0, I'm actually considering updating. Has anyone used the final yet?

Sorry, was being a anus.

Erm, yeah, it's fine. I haven't really looked the full change log. But I am aware of that "Transfer Cap" feature and that uTP and UDP business.

Version 2.0 includes a transfer cap, so that users who have had limits imposed by their ISPs can keep track and automatically kill torrenting when that limit is reached. Skins have also been introduced, but there's no skins option in Preferences: instead, you must go to the uTorrent site and download and install them yourself. That's unnecessarily irritating.
No reason not to upgrade.

Pretty sweet, that means I may not have manually throttle back my torrents when playing FF? When you see me with a 300 ping it's usually someone grabbing some stuff.

//EDIT Just installed it since it hit stable. Beware the ask.com toolbar.

I'm impressed. It actually added some nice features and tweaks. I was worried about updating because some people were having issues. Plus, some trackers are cut-throat about which clients can be used. So far I haven't had any issues so far.

I've used utorrent for a while now. Its always worked fine for me. 2.0 works just as good. I haven't really noticed any speed increase. My average speeds are around 30 to 60 kilobytes a second. Sometimes, depending on the file I'm downloading I will see 130 to 400, but thats rare, but its been like that for many torrent programs I have used. (aka my ISP is crap and I don't get what I pay for and no there are no other options)

:/

That was the case for my ISP for the first year. Now I get 800kB/s, my line only supports 6MB. Been with them for 5 years now. They're just your typical cheap and chearful ISP too. Tiscali UK (now Talk Talk).

I just comply with not downloading at peak times, which I'm fine with.

My highest speed I've hit with uTorrent is 1.5MB/s, not bad for a middle of the road option provided by my service provider, I'm not willing to pay $150 for the top of the line service when all they do is upgrade your download speed and don't touch your upload.

Stupid cable provider only offers different packages with increased download, 5Down/1Up, 10Down/1Up, 15Down/1Up, 25Down/1Up.

I have the 15Down/1Up atm, and I'd spend some more cash if they ever offered a higher upload speed, but they don't, so screw that. I find with the 15Download I'm far more often than not restricted to the speed of whomever I'm downloading from, and never because my end can't handle it.

Atleast they've never bitched at me for too much downloading, there are times where they kill my ip and I have to power down my modem and reboot it and start going again, but that's about it.

I average about 1.5MB/s down and about 200-250kB/s up. Download in seconds and still enough upload so I can actually keep a decent ratio (Yes, people do watch their ratio).

Tried it and had connection problems with some torrents (worked fine on 1.8.5 but not 2.0, client not banned yet)..

And found this from one of my trackers forum.

Quote:
It looks like the development team of uTorrent has implemented a new feature into the 2.0 client that is considered "unethical" by many BT sites. This feature causes uT 2.0 to prefer uT 2.0 over any other client out there, giving users of that client what is considered to be an unfair advantage in seeding. A somewhat similar behavior by another client, BitComet, in the past, had resulted in that client being banned from pretty much every private site in existence.

Communication between representatives of the BT community and the uTorrent development team is undergoing, however at this stage the problem was not resolved yet. As a result, multiple private sites have already banned this client, and many others are likely to follow in the very near future.
Sticking with 1.8.5
