HL2 probs...general stuff for everyone
The purpose of this thread is just for people to post thier HL2 woes and mebbe we can work some stuff out within the communities knowledge base.
I still suffer fromt he HL2 stutter problem. I disabled my sound card even, but still had stuttering. Any ideas? Heapsize and sound precaching are both enabled. I don't have any stuttering besides the tiny bits that happen when I trigger an auto-save. The game even runs fairly smoothly at 800x600 with the settings turned down enough. My problem is that after 15-20 minutes of play, the entire level starts flickering in & out every other frame.
If I quit the game completely and go back in, the problem's gone, but it takes several minutes on my PC. Athlon Thunderbird 1400Mhz A gig of generic PC2100 RAM Windows 2000 fully updated Asus branded GeForce2 Pro with the 66.93 driver Asus A7A266 SB Live value 5.1 oem |

get mbm and check your temps.. i had so many problems with hl2 due to my pc overheating, eventually had to remount the heatsink to keep the temperature at a stable level, although my case has 9 fans in it. i can explain more if need be, main problem was 'the memory could not be "read"' error.

haha, I had the stuttering problem but I just tweked the volume a tad. My sound card is really meant for a sound system better than the headset I'm plugging into it so I think it just got confused.
