previous map was named ff_toonmatch, this version too, and Dr. Satan my problem is when u dl the map from a server, it doesnt have a .res file so plp gonna play without skybox, and if they have other version it will not dl from server..

I know zE...if he used pakrat, it would compress all of those files into his .bsp and people will get them when the dl that file instead of having to dl like 10/12 more texture files on top of that. Which seems like what he's going for with his argument about the _b# anyway.

It only takes a few seconds to download the textures and skybox. These can be reused as well, I don't have to rename them like the map every time I change it. Pakrat doesn't work because I don't feel motivated to download a dozen things to get the GUI to work. It's fine the way it is. The new version includes a .res file, so from here on out, I'm going to ignore the whining.

You can't be a mapper with a glass cunt. People are bound to kick you there from time to time. These folks are identifying what you did incorrectly, and telling you how to fix it in the future. Good dudes if you ask me.

lmao...I was just saying if your so worried about forcing people to dl 2/3 different versions of a beta map...that you might wanna consider using pakrat instead of making them dl so many texture files. A .res works, for part of the problems...but IMO pakrat is better. Especially once you start making bigger maps and shit and your .res starts looking like a bible. But I'm just one of many...and it's just my opinion here.

Like mono said though, if your gonna map you gotta expect feedback and be able to take it. If not then your in the wrong section TBH. And I still disagree with your map being tagged as (Released) and classified as final when it's really a beta. But I do love your skybox and textures lol and will probably check out this map eventually even though I said I wouldn't if only to see the textures in game.

There are pros to using map_b* The versioning allows you to play the previous versions and decide if one particular thing is better than another.

Take medieval as a prime example, I've changed game play drastically in each version (b2,b3,b5). I can go back play the old ones, some people do and I can use them to see what works and what doesn't and mould/revert changes for my next version to suit. Do you even keep versioned .vmfs? I guess not.

We're trying, but hey if he doesn't want to listen or conform to standards then let him be a douche (like microsoft).

played the map, didnt had skybox and materials here missing, ur .res file needs commas...
ur .res file is like this
materials/skybox/mpa93rt.vtf
materials/skybox/mpa93lf.vtf
materials/skybox/mpa93ft.vtf

it needs to be like this
"materials/skybox/mpa93rt.vtf" "file"
"materials/skybox/mpa93lf.vtf" "file"
"materials/skybox/mpa93ft.vtf" "file" etc..
