Valve Anti Cheat
How do I enable valve anti cheat (VAC)?
I read on the steam forums that the command to start the source dedicated server should have -secure in it. The -secure option is supposed to make the srds download and install everything that is needed for vac. So I added -secure to the command line, and restarted the server. But the VAC symbol is not showing up next to the server name. |

mhmm, this should be done automatically already when you start the server. Could it be that your machine is firewalled?

Yes, there is a very good chance that a firewall might be blocking the VAC port.
So the next step is to figure out what ports its using. |

If you are running more then one server on the same IP, make sure they are spaced out by about 10 ports. This tends to fix the issues when running server's under the same IP.

Vac is a bit odd regarding ports. Vac usually takes your server's port, counts 1 till 5 above it and uses that for it's authentication.

Here is a dump of the ports used when I started my FF server. There is probably a range they use for some of the ports so it might not work if you just open the exact ports shown (and I doubt they all even need opened).
Code:

TPC and UDP 26900-27030 should handle those. There is also a much lower "friends" port people often forward (or open).
Setting up a server's isn't hard, it just takes time to handle configurations and customizations. |
