Never said that it doesn't need some fixing. Still should be enabled.

Server moved to San Jose, CA.
New ip: 8.6.15.187:27015 The people in here requesting pyro are PUBBERS. This server is intended to replicate league and pickup play... No one in the leagues with any sense play pyro or sniper in matches. |

And again, disabling pyro in a server like this "OvD", would be another perfect example on not letting people practice it in a "competitive environment". |

i'm not a "PUBBER", but i'd like to see pyro enabled on all public servers (numbers limited as needed ofc). it's not rly important, but i don't agree with some of the logic of other ppl arguing the same pov: our clan has often tried (and will continue to try where appropriate) pyro in clan matches - so far although it has proven acceptable in a few cases, it has always been far from optimal.
i guess that's the core of what i'm trying to say: pyro isn't used at all often in clan matches because atm there's always a class that's btr, but that doesn't mean that pyro isn't both fun and useful (e.g. on def, yes, a good sol/hw in that position will do a much btr job than a good pyro, but a good pyro might do a btr job there than a crap sol/hw, and he'll certainly do a much btr job than having no1 at all there on def which is what could happen if you exclude ppl who enjoy pyro). what it all really comes down to tho is that imo pyro is due a rethink in the way he works to make his effectiveness far more skill-determined (i.e. basically lower the skill-floor and raise the skill-ceiling) and create a real roll for him by making a good pyro able to excel at something team-orientated that other classes cannot. i'd like this to be an offy role (something a bit more dm focused and less movement focused than medic for when you need a dm boost to breakthrough a def). |

This reminds me when I play D Pyro on Shudown2, covering the main entrance. After a few minutes killing Scouts and Medics, people will complain about how annoying Pyros are, even though it's easier to avoid being killed by a Pyro than a Soldier.

It's really easy, with a little practice, to get a level 2 burn on any medic or scout that tries to blow past you. You aren't going to stop them outright, but the burn will weaken them enough that they can be mopped up easily. I can see how a soldier would be better in situations where you just need to stop them cold, to avoid a flag touch.
I'm a pretty bad soldier, though. I seem to spend most of my time out of ammo. |

Level 2 burn essentially kills a scout. I don't see how this is unproductive, especially for a frontdoor or critical chokepoint D role.
