FF won't show up.
First off, I'd like to say hi, as this is my first post here.
Now the problem: I have played FF before, and I loved it. (Kinda confused me at first because I was too used to TF2, but I got used to it.) Now, we had a virus, and we had to reformat my hard drive. So I get my steam account, and install every game I had before. And the Source SDK, and the Base too. Fortress Forever doesn't show up on my games list. I used the installer for version 2.2, then I used the patch to put it up to 2.3. I restarted Steam, nothing. I restarted my computer, nothing. I have the FortressForever folder inside my sourcemods folder. If it helps, I'm using the beta of the new SDK, if it makes a difference. EDIT: I turned off the beta SDK, and it's still not working. |

Hmm have you tried other mods, see if they work?
Seems you have everything you need to have FF on your game list, this is odd.

Did you read the opening post? I said I have the Source SDK and the base installed fully.
If that's not what you meant, can you type slower so I can understand you please? Oh, a staff, sorry if I sounded rude, I didn't mean to. |

D:
This makes me very very sad... EDIT: I read somewhere that using the "DXlevel" exes in the FF folder forces FF to start on Steam, so I tried it. It just opened the Source SDK Base, and it didn't even OPEN it, it just said that it was opening it, but never actually opened. |

Just wanted to make sure that sdk base orange box wasn't installed by Mistake.
You see if Geo and I were standing on top of a hill by the beach and 30 naked girls were down there Geo would say " Hey Zip lets run down there and fuck one of those girls". I would say "Geo lets walk down and fuck them all". I typed that at 1 word a minute hope that was slow enough. Maybe you got a corrupt DL from the files? If the sdk defrag doesn't do it, I suggest re downloading 2.2 full, Delete or rename the old FF folder and reinstall 2.2 see if FF shows up, fires up then proceed to 2.3 update.

Well, I think I see something.
I got another mod, and both my new mod, and Smod have a "gameinfo.txt" Fortress Forever doesn't have one. Anyone else think I should make one and then see what happens? EDIT:... Wow, this was lame. It worked. I can't believe it, one little file made THAT big of a difference? |

It runs, but it's glitched up.
It uses the HL2 City 17 start up back ground, and the "Fortress Forever" Text is... It has the F's, but then everything else is replaced by one of the kill icons. And the menu options are "New Game" "Load Game" "Options" And "quit" can someone post the gameinfo.txt they have? Just look into your Source Mods folder and go into the FortressForever folder, go into the gameinfo.txt, copy it, and paste it here. Please, hurry. |

Code:
"GameInfo" { game "Fortress Forever" title "Fortress Forever" name "Fortress Forever" type multiplayer_only developer "Fortress Forever Team" developer_url "http://www.fortress-forever.com/" icon "resource/icon_ff" manual "http://www.fortress-forever.com/wiki/Main_Page" hidden_maps { "test_speakers" 1 "test_hardware" 1 } FileSystem { SteamAppId 215 // This will mount all the GCFs we need (240=CS:S, 220=HL2). ToolsAppId 211 // Tools will load this (ie: source SDK caches) to get things like materials\debug, materials\editor, etc. // // The code that loads this file automatically does a few things here: // // 1. For each "Game" search path, it adds a "GameBin" path, in <dir>\bin // 2. For each "Game" search path, it adds another "Game" path in front of it with _<langage> at the end. // For example: c:\hl2\cstrike on a french machine would get a c:\hl2\cstrike_french path added to it. // 3. For the first "Game" search path, it adds a search path called "MOD". // 4. For the first "Game" search path, it adds a search path called "DEFAULT_WRITE_PATH". // // // Search paths are relative to the base directory, which is where hl2.exe is found. // // |gameinfo_path| points at the directory where gameinfo.txt is. // We always want to mount that directory relative to gameinfo.txt, so // people can mount stuff in c:\mymod, and the main game resources are in // someplace like c:\program files\valve\steam\steamapps\<username>\half-life 2. // SearchPaths { Game |gameinfo_path|. Game hl2 Game sourcetest } } } |

Nope, now it doesn't even work.
I can see the City 17 back ground, but then it crashes back to my desktop. But, thank you for posting. |

my advice would be:
- close steam. - uninstall FF. - delete the FF folder in steam mods if there's anything left behind. - redownload the FF installers (use the FF.com url, as i've had corrupt ones from other mirrors before). - reinstall FF. |

I've done all that, including downloading from the Fortress Forever Site.
D: EDIT: Everyone, I think I found my problem. And it was ALL my fault all along. I was downloading the "Patch" Not the "Full" I feel INCREDIBLY stupid right now... |
