Youtube at it again

After getting in touch with Steam tech support, and getting permission to upload left 4 dead videos to youtube, - I uploaded a video last night.

30 minutes later - the video is no longer available. There is no message on my account, no nothing explaining why the video was no longer available. An hour later the video is back on, when I went to bed last night the video was off and then this morning its back on.

What is the freakin deal with youtube? They take a video down, put it back up, take it down, put it back up,,,,,,,

But anyway, I started uploading the videos to meatacafe, beak, veoh, dailymotion.

Here's how it basically works.

You say that you have a vested interest in Intellectual Property X. Let's say, for instance, that it was Left4Dead.

YouTube then essentially gives you a free pass to remove videos from YouTube under your own power. They're removed first and can only be reinstated later after YouTube eventually reviews it... there can be a whole back and forth about this kinda shit.

It's not that hard to get permission to remove videos, and it's abused a lot, but under the DMCA Safe Harbor provisions that's basically how a site as large as YouTube has to do it in order to survive.

That error is a general error. Your video wasn't removed. YouTube is a very popular site and experiences a lot of load at time, so just 'wait it out'. Also, stop complaining about YouTube. They're just enforcing the laws they're set to follow as well as you. They're not the law, they're under it. If you upload a copyrighted video or a video with copyrighted material, they're not taking it down to be an ass to you. They're trying to save you, though mostly themselves, from a lawsuit.
