Nukem...why does it have to be an update that did this? Could it not be some piece of spyware/malware/*ware that happened to sneak into your system around the same time?

well it happened immediatly after restart i started getting video hangs. I also run virus scan daily since my computer kept getting jacked last year.

Well I can make some recommendations so you don't get hijacked anymore (I honestly never get viruses/spyware except on a really rare occasion). You should try avast free antivirus and zonealarm free. With those two installed a lot of your problems will most likely be solved. I could be wrong of course, you might actually have these installed so sorry if I am of no help.
