Sniper rifle model
Ive been fooling around with models for a while (for cs 1.6) when a friend asked me to try to make a sniper rifle model for fortress forever, because he hated the current model. He found me a good free program and i started making the model (after about an hour of getting to know the program). Its being modeled after a picture he showed me of an unfinished sniper rifle model created by someone else but never released...
discuss! the fruit of 3 hours of work (with l4d and tf2 breaks in between ;D) slightly old version of the scope close up Last edited by CocaCola; 12-16-2008 at 12:44 AM. |

Decent. Don't know what you want to hear since it's kind of freelance and I'm guessing you aren't going for 100% resemblance.

100% would be difficult because the original was made by someone with much more experience than I, but im gonna see how close i can get it. |

thanks for the input!
i pmed blackholesan to ask him if he can skin it, but i am very unfamiliar with modeling for source! previously, i have only modeled with cs 1.6, and I've never used this modeling program before, and pretty much everything is new to me, so I cannot provide a uvmap of the model, although from most of the tutorials i have watched about this program, it is very easy to add textures! Here is the link to download the model in SOFTIMAGE XSI 6 Mod Tool's default .exp extension. http://hldevs.com/sniperpix/FFsniper_done.zip Feel free to edit the model to your leisure. |

Well, get me the model in a format like .obj, .3ds, anything i can import into milkshape3d or 3ds max.
then the model needs to be uvmapped - i can try to map it myself, but im not that great at uvmapping. ill skin it also - and compile it for the sniper rifle. btw, my computer has been destroyed lately. i order the final parts for my next PC tomorrow, and should have it completely together in about a week.

I got it open, but if i planned on Uvmapping it, i would need hours and hours, days and days. ill try it if i can arrange the time.

i noticed many errors in the obj file hlstriker uploaded, so i went ahead and exported it to .xsi which seems to be a much better filetype to export to, and then imported it into milkshape to make sure its ok and then saved it as the .ms3d filetype in the above link If there are any updates on any skin being made that would be nice! When this model has a skin and is playable, ill remodel the single shotgun as well as i noticed many people dont like it |
