Skyboxes in Texture List
I've noticed some skyboxes in the textures application browser when I've gone about texturing the skybox texture onto walls. I tried to use some of them in the form of a 2D skybox, but it makes all my brushes inside the 2D skybox invisible. I also tried typing the name of the skybox (without bk, rt, lft, etc) into the map properties for skybox and even tried adding the "skybox/" bit before it, and they don't seem to work. Are they supposed to work and how? There's a sky in the list that I want to use for a map.

Yea the actual texture you use for your sky should be tools/toolsskybox
*edit I misread. Not sure if you can use sky textures for brushes in general. If you are trying to use the grimm night or interstellar type textures, just the name without the lf , rt ends should work. Last edited by PartialSchism; 12-26-2008 at 05:13 AM. |

I did manage to use a skybox textured brush on a map, and it looked as it should. However, since it wasn't the use the texture is for, if you looked at any brush tied to an entity (such as gates, detpack walls, etc.) towards the skybox brush, you would see it through solids. Lets say it was a bit bugged.
So yeah, map properties to set the 2D Skybox texture. As an added note, the Valve Developer Wiki will help you on most general mapping questions. |
