Mousewheel jump script
I learned how to bhop back in the TFC days where you had to time your jumps, so i am really used to using my wheeldown for jumping. Well, in FF there is no need for that but i am having a really hard time making the adjustment of moving my jump button (had it like that for over 5years!!) to mouse button 4.
What i need is a script that will simulate a button press hold so i can wheeldown in midair and the script will hold down the +jump so i don't have to. I hope i made what i need clear what i need and i hope it is possible. |

You want a TFC mwheeldown script because that's how you're used to jumping, even though Fortress Forever makes it necessary. Gotcha.
I'm pretty sure that someone around here cooked up something similar because a dood was in the exact same situation as you. I'll dig around, although someone else will probably find it or make up a new one before I do. -.-

omg., Thank You!
edit: wait, no. I know what post you are talking about. In FF when you are in midair all you have to do is hold down the jump and the moment you hit the group you jump immediately. However, i am used to having wheeldown as jump so i am unable to hold down the button so i have to time when i am going to hit the ground (life TFC) to BHop. What i need is a script that will hold down or continuously hit +jump so i don't have to time my jumps. Did that make it any clearer? |

It jumps twice at the start, then works perfectly.
However, i was not able to spawn when i died for some reason. I had to unbind, close FF then restart edit: ya, there is a bug which i am not able to respawn for some reason Last edited by Orpheus66; 09-14-2008 at 11:30 PM. |

Wow, what a bad code glitch...
Bind a key that you don't use to -jump and hit that when you die to spawn. mwheelup is a good key for it if you aren't using it. |

Actually this is even better:
Code:
alias +jumpcancel "+attack;-jump" alias -jumpcancel -attack bind mouse1 +jumpcancel |

Thanks from me too.
I switch between FF/TFC a lot and it's super confusing. Could this be done In a way so that I only have to turn the mouse wheel 1 notch per jump? That's how I have it in TFC. I know how the implemented jump que works on spacebar but It confuses me when I think of putting it on mwheel.

It works like that already Paft, try it. You can only do 1 notch or 50, either way it will jump.

Brill!
Edit: Something isn't right. It randomly stops working and doesn't jump at all. And doesn't respond no matter how many notches I turn. Then randomly works again.

This thread gave me a headache... I mean seriously I used mwheel down for 5+ years too, and it only took me 2 weeks to get used to using the spacebar.
If you're used to the mwheel as jump then bind "MOUSE3" "+jump" that way you're still using the wheel only instead of scrolling it down you're clicking it down. And in FF it would still be far more accurate to use than some jump script at this point. |

Hammock has a point, you would be far better of learning the new way than not at all. Kind of like how rj scripts are pointless in most of the newer quake engines much less here...

At a glance any attempt at simulating this would render the game unresponsive, as with all scripts that cue up commands.

Ah yeah. Was being a dumbarse.
Edit: Actually I wasn't being dumb this has something to do with Vsync. When application controlled (Vsync off) it doesn't work. Vsync on it does. ..?

Vsync will only affect your FPS(limiting it to 60 while on usually), so it shouldn't affect this situation.
