Toronto Man Busted With 2,865 Stolen Bicycles

HE'S been dubbed his city's "most hated man" but some claim unofficial world champion of bicycle thieves was simply performing a social service.

Police in Toronto, Canada, have arrested second hand bicycle dealer Igor Kenk for allegedly stealing or arranging the theft of 2,865 bicycles, The New York Times reports.

Kenk allegedly recruited homeless people and mental patients to help him steal the machines which he stored at his shop, the Bicycle Clinic.

When the police subsequently raided the Bicycle Clinic, fire crews at first blocked them from entering for safety reasons.

The building was so crammed with bicycles and bike parts that a fire rescue squad had to remove the upper-floor windows and lower the bicycles by rope.
