Looking for a new graphics card
Alright, I have grown tired of my Radeon X1300. It's time for a change.
So, I've been looking around Newegg, and here's what I'm looking at so far: Saphhire Radeon HD 3850 Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 So, Im looking at those, the 48** series, and the Nvidea GeForce 96/9800 sries (I don't feel like linking to all of them right now.) The things I am looking at the most are the ability to play current games such as UE3 games and Crysis at Max settings(Well, high for Crysis, not max) on 1024x728 (I don't really care for higher resolutions or AF, 1024 has always been nice enough for me) and be able to play future games for a while. I have one big question though: is Direct X 10.1 really that important? I do know for a fact that my new card will be DX 10, no doubt about it. But from all I have read about DX 10.1, I don't think any developers will really be using it. So, any help would be very nice.

DX 10.1 is just a tiny update from DX10, it makes thing manadatory than were before optional, plus shader model 10.1, but nothing reall is going to come of it.
anyways, i would recommend the 9800GTX, but the 4850 is a VERY nice card. if you can take the plunge, get the geforce 280 |

I've been looking at cards too (Building a computer).
I was originally going to SLI two 8800s but learned that you can't run dual screen while under SLI (which is fuckin' bull shit). So I've been thinking about this 9800. It's currently 230 after a rebate. |
