ah...fair enough, it makes since and I completely understand. The way I did it is that I totally closed myself from everyone in my life that was the way I was, all my friends, my mom, dad, everyone...I moved 50+ miles away from it all and just never looked back. It's much easier to stay sober and not think about it when it's not right in your face...but also it's not really a complete 180...I still am a drug addict and I know that if I were faced with drugs again, I would probably give in to temptation and end up just like I was before...I just do everything I can to stay away from it all and so far it's worked. As long as I remember that I have no willpower and absolutely no control over it and I have to avoid it at all costs, then I think I will be alright.

Plus for most of my life I was on drugs...so when I was forced to stop and I didn't die from pain or want to kill myself, I kinda figured out that it wasn't really all that bad being sober and that I actually like myself a lot more when I'm not all fucked up. That helps keep me going to...

Ultimately though, I'm one wrong step from being that same person again.

When I do, two things come to mind and at any given moment, either of them help me push away the temptation....

1) "just one" is always too much, because "just one" is never enough
2) After hearing distinctly a message in your ear from above "You WILL stop coming up with excuses, and you WILL STOP"... then sometimes you repeat your own personal mantra "i will obey".

Any time you want to smoke, binge drink, or shoot drugs, remind yourself that you get paid for refraining.

You get paid in "health".

In America, health translates to $, especially as you grow older. Health insurance system is here to stay.

And of course $ can potentially buy you pleasure.

IF pot was leagalized then the systems wouldt be bogged down by the tons of people in there for possession/intent to sell/ and such like.

However, most every other drug needs to be illegal or stickly controlled.

Obvious exception for a particular fungus that a john hopkins found to be beneficial to most everyone. (http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/Press.../07_11_06.html)

Even my parents who are upstanding well to do people enjoy the fungus privately. Such a marvelous drug. NO drug test tests for it, cheaper than pot, less harmfull than smoking and lasts longer with stronger effects. when used RESPONSIBLY can be a excellent way to help solve those difficult problems life throws at you.
