I made some edits and showed what each command did. Sticky'd.

some comments about a few lines:

sv_allowdownload and sv_allowupload I had to 0 because the user coming here for info will probably be the typical home user. If you are running a home server on your own dsl/cable, you really dont want to be using your limited bandwidth to upload files to people. So set them to 0 if that applies to you.

Time limit for maps defaults to 30, so if that is what you want anyway, you dont have to include mp_timelimit.

some servers have set max lag for .4, whereas mine is .3 because that just seems to work fine for me. Try both to see if you notice any difference, but you probably wont.

If you are running a commercial server, you really arent going to want to change those logfile settings unless you absolutely hate zipping a ton of logs and then dloading them to read. I check my logs every day, so thats why I have it set like I do now. In the end, it saves alot of reading time. Trust me.

sv_minrate can be set for 4000 if you actually have dial up users or high pingers. Does anyone still use dial up to play Source games? But I use mani plugin to kick my high pingers. You definitely dont want to set it for 0 though

The update rates are typical ones for commercial servers and most commercial servers have strict rules about you changing those. Just remember the higher the number is . . . the more cpu that will be used on your end.

sv_maxupdaterate is pretty important (and I'm surprised it was changed to 100). No matter who you talk to about this, everyone will have a different opinion. Typical home user definitely doesnt need it set at 100. I never went higher than 70 on my dsl 500kb upload home service. Alot of people fix this setting based on their server tick rate. If your server tick rate is 33, then it is almost pointless to have sv_maxupdaterate set at 100. And thus far I dont see how to get FF above 66 tickrate anyway. My server keeps dropping down to 33 tickrate when I run various maps. Anyway, you can go google sv_maxupdaterate to read all the different opinions on this.

Just remember these settings are suggestions . . . not absolutes and you can configure them to work best for your situation--whether it is a home server on dsl/cable or a commercial server with serious upload capability

Also, note to server owners - do not screw with FF's tickrate. It does not like anything other than 33. Performance goes WAY down if you try to up it to 66 AFAIK.

The server.cfg talks about the following cvar:
Quote:
sv_logbans 0 // Log bans?
Is this logged into the current logfile, or is it possible to export this to an other file then the one in the /log dir?

Sure, i could write a linux script and add it to the crontab, but if there's an option for it anyway, i might aswell use that

Are you planning on running a server?

Default port is 27015 like most your steam games.
