Any Germans or Austrians?
I have a project in my Tourism Geography class about Germany and Austria. I was looking to get some insight from anyone from or familiar with Germany and/or Austria. I am looking mostly for information on things like destinations to visit that maybe most tourists overlook or aren't aware of it. Also cultural do's and dont's that maybe tourists aren't aware of. Like how in some countries it's seen as rude to eat in public.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

In Germany, there are plenty of things to see and do. I'll give a short list:
Starnberg Lake(take a 3 hour boat ride...trust me!!) Neushwanstein Castle(Go with a tour group you can find at the Bahnhoff in Munich) Deutches Museum is another "Must See" spot. If you time your vacation properly, Oktoberfest is something to experience. Nymphenberg Castle(which is more of a palace than a castle...but still a must see!) The Fraunkirche, also known as "Church of our Lady" in downtown Munich. There is another must see, but dammit, I can't remember the name of it. I'll edit later when I remember. As for cultural differences, here are a few hints: Do not litter! If you smoke, put your butt out and deposit it in a trashcan. They are everywhere. Also, notice the multi-cans for recycling. Don't act like an American!! I mean this. I saw many Americans while I was in Germany, and they all made spectacles of themselves. No wonder we aren't welcome anywhere. Marienplatz Click that for a webcam you can see.

Fox, I don't know where you heard(read) that.... but I have seen some of the natural sites..... absolutely breathtaking.
They just want to point you to places you can spend more money.

If you ever get the chance, there was a biking route called The Seven Hills in the Black Forest. It's absolutely bad-ass-rad-awesome.
There are also tons of castles around. Absolutely beautiful to look at at night. There are also several 'abandoned' towers and forts out in the wilderness. Pretty awesome to go out there.

I was just quoting a german friend of mine. I live in a rivertown that gets tons of tourism, and I hate the nature here too.
