Yep, I'm responsible for the customtf.com redirect.

CustomTF was a great mod but it split into like 5 sub-mods without enough playerbase to support really even just 1 the mod by itself. Everytime I look on ASE, all the mod servers are usually empty. The most I've seen recently is 8 players on a Saturday, which looked abit of a fluke. The site was dead anyways and I don't play customtf anymore and none of the members of the community volunteered to do any updates.

I thought the redirect would be a good measure to increase exposure for FF, as the site still does score a large number of hits.. so the hope is that we get a few more qwtf players from this.

Yep, this site was for the Customtf original QWTF mod (sometimes called Prozac or Shaka TF).

Was there a CustomTF type mod for TFC? The type of mod where you can build your own players up from scratch (eg a soldier class with a medikit or a sniper with a sg)? Its a fun concept mod, except when it turns into tic-tac-toe where players just build classes to "one-up" better opponents- then it all just turns a bit silly. Did this exist for TFC?

I wonder who actually owned that site. I remember visiting that site daily for new skins and models..... Good times.

Huh? There's still the main mod, plus the coop version, I guess.

Uh, I've been actively updating it for a year now. The community has moved to forums here:
http://customtf.sourceforge.net/forum/

You're welcome to come back, of course. Servers are still pretty full on weekends, and the last time I checked (11PM on a Tuesday night) there were 9 people playing. =)

Hey Shaka

Good to see you guys are still at it!

Wow, are there only 2 sub mods now? Thats a good thing. Its been like 18 months but off the top of my head I remember there being current prozac, classic prozac, excessive prozac, co-op prozac, and co-op customtf, all for a very small playerbase. I remember some players would insist on playing only one- so things got quite broken up in terms of having decent large games on any of the mods. I think alot of players left once the big games went bye-bye

Haha! Well thanks, but I'm having a good time playing FF for the time being. There's a couple other ex-CustomTF'ers playing too and imho FF's by far the most true to TF game to come out since the original. These guys have done a great job. FF may not be as dynamic a game as CustomTF was-- but the graphics and overall gameplay-- really its quite an improvement. Progress is a good thing man and that old engine can only go so far.

Take care

Oh, I guess. But basically the community got together and agreed not to split the playerbase so all the people just play normal CustomTF, with some playing coop when they feel like it.

I might migrate to a newer version in the future, yeah, but clients like FTEQuake add shaders and bloom to QW... with a new playermodel it would be almost like an entirely new game.
