the difference is.. that there are different engines. its inevitable that most modable games, will eventually get their own version of teh first 'greatest mod ever'-mod. and inevitably, you cannot control which games people purchase, hence you can't choose their flavour. people who will play ff, will play ff because they like it, or they liked tfc, or they once play qwtf, or they don't have a copy of quake, or they like the physics better, or hl2 is omg, or, or.
