i can join any server i want, just not my own SO IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH clientregistry.blob

You trying to connect to a commercial server or are you trying to run a server on your home comp and then connect to it using the same comp?

If it's commercial server you trying to connect to, usually you just shut down steam and wait a few seconds and then restart it. You're right. . . . that is not the registry blob problem.

If you are running a ded serv on your home comp and then trying to connect via game server list on the same comp, then make sure you start the ded srv first and then open steam.
