Cutting consumption is a worthless idea. Now, aside from waiting for technology to advance how would you address the logistical issues of addressing the refueling needs of the alternative, non-petroleum based vehicular power plants?

http://www.popsci.com/popsci/automot...cbccdrcrd.html I believe the technology for super high capacity batteries/super capacitors exists right now, but it is too costly for mass production. Costs will drop over time, and by that time gasoline will rise to $5 a gallon, which will encourage more people to buy hybrid lowering the price even more. This will happen in time, I doubt any major breakthrough will happen that will solve all of the problems, associated with hybrid cars, instantly. |

Hybrids are a waste of time and are, I believe, an interim bandaid until a viable and sustainable alternative can mature. Even with a super capacitor you're still dealing with the same logistical issues of delivering sufficient electricity to charge it quickly and safely. Same infrastructure issues still apply.
