Half Life 2/Half Life 2 Ep 1?

Hey, i'm downloading FF right now and looking forward to playing it, but I don't have Half Life 2. I went to the Steam store and I see they have Half Life 2 for $19.99 and Half Life 2: Episode 1 for $10.00 less. Is there any reason it's cheaper? I know Episode 1 comes with the singleplayer missions but does it still come with a full copy of HL2? I just don't want to buy it if i'm not going to be able to play FF with it.

Edit: Nvm, I just installed it and am playing it now. No Half Life 2 installed, although I do have CS:Source. I didn't know I could play it with that.

Episode 1 is just Episode 1.

Just get HL2DM.

This is the HL2:Episode 2 package:

Half-Life 2: Episode One $9.95
Includes: Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, Half-Life Deathmatch: Source, Half-Life 2: Episode One

So if I buy that package which includes Deathmatch i'll be able to play FF?

I meant buy HL2DM on its own.

I know, but the single game was just as much as the Ep 1 package that includes the game. Might as well get the most bang for my cheap buck.

Nvm, I just installed it and am playing it now. No Half Life 2 installed, although I do have CS:Source. I didn't know I could play it with that.

CS:S includes the SDK so you're kosher.

I want to play this mod and try out TF2 when it comes out on the 17th, but I don't have Half Life 2.

Should I wait to buy Orange Box on Monday or will I be able to download TF2 for free if I buy Half Life 2 today?

If you pre-purchase The Orange Box, you can install and play HL2, Episode 1, and Source SDK Base (what FF actually uses) right now.

So yeah, get The Orange Box.
