PSP Pandora's Battery - Unbricker
A mod team has released a PSP unbricker. While I'm not a PSP owner nor a fan I can't help but wondering weather it's worth picking up a bricked PSP to give it a try to run some home-brews.

So you need a homebrew-enabled PSP (to write the unbricker) and a spare battery and mem stick (to put the unbricker on)?
Still cheaper than a new PSP unless you lack a homebrew-enabled. Which I do. 'Course I also lack a bricked PSP at the moment, so eh.

Something that has rendered the PSP useless. Making it about as useful as a brick.
The term is annoying IMO. eg "Haha my PSP bricked. I'm buying a new one." |

Will this "brick" affect my PSP? I got mine in 2005.

you need to do stupid shit like put in a US release game in your EU psp and the game updates with the US shit and then your PSP gets bricked, and this shit can fix it. From what i understand its for homebrew dudes.

A bricked PSP is like a motherboard with no BIOS. This restores the PSP's BIOS, which was previously thought to be impossible.
PSPs can get bricked if you run the wrong sort of code... exactly the sort of thing people making homebrew software do to develop it. Also, there are hackers who have made PSP viruses that can brick your PSP by wrecking the BIOS.

Mostly you get bricked by downgrading firmware or upgrading with the wrong firmware (as Coronius mentioned).
It was the reason I didn't try and downgrade mine (not even delicious homebrew emulator action was worth $250 for a new PSP).

I'm glad homebrew on the Nintendo DS is so much easier to use and less to worry about.

Except homebrew on the DS sucks compared to PSP.

DS = Mac = easy to use, but shit variety
PSP = Windows = harder to use, but great variety, shitload of crashes
