He may be able to browse into his modem and see as well. I know that with Charter I can do that with my Mom's modem.

It uses up your pipe. When you download to still need to send data out, but you can't if your upload speed is maxed.

Circ, you need to either cap your upload rate in your client software(which will show some improvement) and/or setup and enable QoS on your router for the ports you're doing lots of uploading on.

At any rate, DSL here is sweet. $34.99 a month for 6mbit down, 784kbit up. Compared to $54.99 for 8/512 from Comcast..

This is what I do to compensate right now. My ratios are horrible.

damn i wish i had your DSL! mine is 1.5u/365d. at 40/m
its supposed to be 3d/756u at 40/m but they never upgraded the switching station im getting it from. discount? yeah they are only charging me 30/m now after i bitched at them. and their slower 765d/128u service is 20/m

Verizon Fios will own all onces its out in my area.

That's what my brother-in-law said for months, working for Verizon. And it's not available down here (Delaware) yet lol.

hopefully Verizon will invest some of their money into upgrading their network =X did I speak of the devil? lol... verizon just like any major company is a bunch of cheap crooks. at least they give good benefits.
