TF2 is heavy competition for FF. While they are different versions of the same concept, it is silly to say that they aren't related at all. Five things are gonna happen when both games are out: 1. People will play FF. 2. People will play TF2. 3. People will play FF and TF2, and stick with the game that they like better. 4. People will play both FF and TF2 (probably playing the game they like better more often). 5. People won't play FF or TF2. Both games will overlap the Fortress-franchise community, but it's impossible to comment accurately on the popularity of each. My guess is that TF2 will be much more popular than FF, but FF will have a small, but dedicated community. TF2 will appeal to people who have never played a Fortress game before, whereas I don't think FF will be able to draw in as many new players as they'd like. BUT - this is all just speculation. FF could really take off if the first release is amazing. |

You must not have understood why I mentioned ET:Quake Wars. It is also a class based team shooter, but you dont see people saying that FF has to beat it to the punch. And most class based team shooters made since '98 have had a version of 2fort. |

i do admit in hindsight, FF would have been quite a disaster if it was released last year, but i guarantee you if you were on the beta team you would certainly see why its been held back so long. i still dont understand why you're here, its almost like you dont want this mod to release? such arrogant presence isn't really welcome here. i dont so much mind the fact that people are negative about FF, its just people like you who seemingly want it to fail. in all fairness, i dont think steam is the be all end all of advertisments anyway, i mean look at ins mod... that gamespy campaign got a lot of people to download and try it. it wasn't my cup of tea, but then i never expect FF to be everyone's cup of tea either. i seriously don't think TF2 is going to play a major role in FF's success, other than it draws more attention to the whole fortress scene. i mean, how many WW2 or middle east FPSes are out there at the moment? |

In all fairness Valve does have professionals who are used to create games. Surely it might took em only 2 years to create a complete new game. FF doesn't have professional game designer. So I wouldn't say that FF is mismanaged at all, just because it took a year longer than expected. the devs might be unlucky to push for the dec06 release but they are still good in time for what they have done. it's not like they just ported TFC over to Source...
