I'm still upset with Valve since this last HL1 engine update. My keyboard and mouse now "freezes" meaning I'm occassionally stuck firing a gun and running full speed for a few seconds.

I thought it was my hardware but there are a good number of people on the Steam forums that have the same problem. Valve so far has redirected us all to the "How to tell if your mouse is bad." knowledge base which makes even more angry.

Not many people actually realise that Dual Core DOES NOT mean you have two processors.

They do not work 100% independantly of each other, they canne!

Nope I'm not even running anything really special either. My keyboard is a basic keyboard and my mouse is only a Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 (wired). The people getting the same problem all have a different keyboard and mouse so I'm not sure what causes it. Some people had it fixed after uninstalling the keyboard and mouse from Windows but it didn't work for me.

I would never use a wireless mouse and keyboard, just because I don't really want the batteries dieing at a bad time, and I don't want it to lagg every now and then.

That's why my mouse is rechargable, I use to run out of batteries so damn fast. And inconvienent timing as well, like when I used to play it and was pwning on BF2.

The only temp fix for it is to either:
1. Record a demo ingame. Fixes it for the most part.
2. Alt tab and set HL.exe to low priority. Doesn't fix it completely.

You have to do either one of those everytime you play.

either way, with (projected) DX10 improvements, a move to 64-bit processing, and multi-core support, we should get a little more bang for our buck in the next year or so....hopefully.

Damn hardware/software gap
