func_detail's broken
ok well its something ive noticed in my maps when i turn on
mat_wireframe and its a bit annoying and makes the entity somewhat less usefull. func_detail's are spliting up the faces of brushes when thay by design are not meant to help box of func_detail: ===================== func_detail An entity that turns it's brushes into detail brushes. Detail brushes do NOT contribute to visibility in the PVS. World geometry is not clipped to detail brushes, so if you have a small detail clump attached to a wall, the wall won't be cut up by the detail brush.func_detail is great for high-frequency brush geometry that's visual detail only. It's also ideal for reducing map VIS time. ===================== well take a look at a set of pictures of my map im working on: With func_detail's: Func_detail's removed: Anyone else getting this problem? |

I found the same thing happening at times. I just moved the func_detail back to world and then remade it into a func_detail and it seemed to work ok

ive made them into world brushes and back to func_detail's before and it had no effect.
i turned the brushes into a func_brush and it did not cut up any faces i have no idea why the damn func_detail's are cutting up the face's. |

The only things I would say are to make sure you aren't using the -nodetail option into the BSP exe, and maybe try making each step its own func_detail and not the whole staircase into one.
