trouble starting FF after succesfull installment

Ok here is what i did:

Step 1
I downloaded both 2.2 full installer exe and 2.2 to 2.3 installer exe, both found on this site. http://www.fortress-forever.com/wiki...es_for_players

Step 2
I installed them both in the correct location steam/steamapps/sourcemods

Step 3
The game should be up to date and placed in the correct location.
However. When i start the game steam opens but thats all what happens. Steam does not recognize the game (when i press the ''my games'' tab its all empty). So i got both steam working and the game installed yet the game does not work.

I run it on windows vista home premium 64 bit. But i tried to run both steam and fortress in XP service pack 2. Still no results.

I would well appreciate it if someone could help me out here.

What steam games do you own? You have to have sdk base installed for FF.

Basically you need CS:S or TF2. Any HL2 game I believe. Click on your Tools Tab in Steam. It will either be listed there as ready, not installed, or it wont be listed there at all. Which means you need to purchase something. I think there is something out there for only $5. Try searching for it on these forums, I know there have been other threads that someone posted the link for that purchase.
