I was thinking of something along the lines of this. One player starts out as SPY , everyone else is whatever(Pyro and Engy would be restricted). SPY gets you, your switched to spy also, until everyone is a spy or the round timelimit runs out( 5 - 10minutes ?) Works kinda like Hidden:Source's Overrun gametype.

There's a Last Man Standing lua for zE's ff_agoraz map that forces players into spec mode after they die, so I guess you could force a team change too.

How big area were you thinking of? Lots of places to hide? I might try something, but can't test properly until I get my working video card back in about 2-4 weeks (computer might crash if I run HL2 on this broken one).
I've been having a long pause from mapping and getting some withdrawal symptoms already Oh and how to solve the problem that the dead players will know where the others are hiding? Maybe give the hiding places lots of exits to escape through? Last edited by A1win; 09-18-2008 at 08:22 PM. |

perhaps make it more like "tag" than hide and seek.
Also, I am always down to help test, I run 2 pub servers. |

Also, if you look at the h&s TFC map, you'll know that people usually works in pairs or groups of three - meaning that if one is caught, the other have left the area, most probably. |

Since this involves team switching, scoring will obviously be player based. This way when a player dies and gets to the seeker team, he doesn't neccessarily want to tell the others where his friends were since he'll want the score for himself.
Big hide and seek maps take a lot of time to create, so "more like a tag" might be better. Also medics vs civs idea sounds a bit boring if the only way to kill would be by inflicting the disease... Spies as seekers sounds a lot more tempting, and since it's possible to modify damage of different classes, it might be reasonable to give the hiders some very weak guns too so they wouldn't be completely defenseless. The seekers might even just respawn so killing them would only slow them down. Except that it wouldn't be very fun if the hiders could do spy checks with their guns... dunno. Hmm I'm thinking too massively again. It could just be a smallish arena with some corridors around/above/under it and some obstacles in the middle. I'll try to come up with something
And yeah, medic vs civs should be fun in a small map. Last edited by A1win; 09-18-2008 at 09:56 PM. |

...maybe Black Mesa, haha- nevermind. The last man standing lua uses Spectate function to force the player to spectate: Code:
player:Spectate ( SpecMode.kRoaming ) player:SetRespawnable( false ) Although the Spectate command isn't listed in the Lua commands thread either... maybe they've added something usable? One way to do it would be to force them as spectators and not allow them to spawn as civs anymore, so they'd had to switch the team manually. But that'd be quite annoying for the players. Another solution would be to just make them spectators and let there be only one medic... In either case, it wouldn't be possible to force the last survivor to be the medic in next game. Oh and here's the pool: ff_aids0002.jpg But there's no point continuing if I can't get the gameplay to work, so please halp... Last edited by A1win; 09-19-2008 at 03:02 PM. |
