New MP3 Player?
So my Video iPod is started to die on my after over 2.5 years.
I need a replacement, but I really don't know what I should get. I would like to consider a product NOT by apple, but iPods own the market for a reason. Plus, I like the idea of getting an iTouch so I have a portable wifi device. However, I'm up for anything. Plus, I kind of HATE iTunes after they started updating and messing up the windows version about 4 years back... Any recommendations? "Requirements" Price Range: ~$300 (USD) MUST LAST AT LEAST 2 YEARS. 16GB+ of storage Video Stable/Usable UI Wifi would be nice, but not required Lot of people have been recommending me a Zune... |

I love my Zune (30gb first generation), and I haven't had any issues with it except the leap year bricking incident that was fixt in a firmware update. The only real negative thing I have to say about the Zune is the software, like iTunes - it just sucks.
What took Apple a multitude of tries to get right with the iPod, Microsoft got right on the first try with the Zune - music, videos, pictures, podcasts, radio, marketplace, and games available on the first generation. Though, at this rate, if you want to get a Zune, i'd recommend waiting for the Zune HD, that one will have touch screen capability, but I'm not sure how big the HD size will be. Good luck in choosing dude. |

Well I have an Ipod classic and I use ml_ipod with winamp which is much better than Itunes
My bro has a zune and he has been pretty happy with it. Though not sure if you can use it as a hard drive like you can with an ipod classic.

Zunes can be used as hard drives if you get zSuite.
It allows you to interrupt the sync and access the drive, since MS has it setup so it can't be detected as a drive until the sync starts and the window of opportunity closes once things start transferring via Zune software. So, pretty much, the window is only open for a few seconds (before first transfer after the sync has connected), where zSuite would come in and take over. I have a 120 GB iPod classic...I love it. When the next big leap in capacity comes in the iPods I will replace this one.
