I'm assuming he means that big black line, I've had this occur when I made a big glass window, but it fixed it when I resized the glass to like 30% its origional size. though in your case, I doubt that would work, and since I'm new to mapping, I really don't know.

Try moving one of the vertices on the brush that is not being lit correctly. This problem has existed since quake >_<, it's rather annoying to find your map has totally unlit chunks. My TFC map sublime and also 2kfort4 had the same problem in totally arbitrary places. I just vertex edited until it went away.

hey zorro
how in the world did you make that curve? that was never explained to me in teh tutorials provided by source sdk reference notes. Can you tell me or show me a link to a tutorial that shows how to make curves like taht. And i dont know what the carve or clip tool does. is that what makes that curve?

the outward curve is just a circle clipped in half..

One of the stickies is called Everything you need to/want to know about mapping, and in that thread is a link to a video tutorial site, this site shows you via video how to make a curve, either way

I typically make inward curves by using the cylinder tool to form an outline, then create brushes to 'fill' in the outline via vertex manipulation.

thx guys
JERM wat do u meen "One of the stickies..." where is this stickie that you speak of?
DEFRAG umm when i use the vertex tool and go to check for problems it says "irrgular solid object" and its always the object i try to vertex. When i use the clip tool its weird. lets say that in top view when i allign it to cut a cylinder in half i line it up but then in the side view its up higher so when i try to lower it to the height of the cylinder the top view image of the clip line changes direction... its hard to explain but it doesnt really work for me |

When you vertex manipulate, you must ensure the resultant solid is CONVEX. If you google for some tutorials they will explain it better than I can.

Ok time for more texture problems
This one is kind of hard to see... but the texture is a difrent color on my curves.. It seems to resize them and also make the color a bit lighter... I resize them but it does not fix the coloring.. what am i doing wrong? |

edit: hmmm n/m, seems to work for some of them but not for all.. and it wont let me select both world and face like the other ones are set to |
