New Server, and I need help.

Hey guys, I recently bought a 14 slot server, its not the first FPS server I have had, but it is the first Source server I've had. I'd really appreciate help with ALL server commands, how to mess properly with the .cfg files, and HOW TO TAKE A PW OFF the server. Also, loading maps onto the list would be beneficial as well. I want to have a FUN public server, so if you guys have any suggestions please tell me!

There's quite a lot of commands you can use to put up a server. To take of your servers password you only will need to put sv_password to blank. Like this:

sv_password ""

Also, loading maps onto the list would be beneficial as well. I want to have a FUN public server, so if you guys have any suggestions please tell me!

Maps are noted in a different file then server.cfg. By default all the maps that run on the server are noted in maplist.txt.

Also, its a rented server through a server provider, any clue on how to load maps to the server through FTP ( i know its shitty but its the only way they offer communication with the server other than in-game.)

Comments are next to the '//' escape characters.

You can put the entire line of text you see there in the server.cfg file and edit them to your hearts content. If you have any questions about the commands you see, don't be afraid to ask them here

You can check out the config above and search for the line "sv_downloadurl". It will point all the 'new' guys who don't have the map yet towards a different server to download it from, providing the maps are the same.

Maps can easilly be uploaded via ftp. Our uni server has a lot of custom maps you can find in : http://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/games/...r/fastdl/maps/
Next to that you can also get maps from : http://ffpickup.com/?p=files

ffpickup.com has mappacks and just loose maps

When i used to run a CoD2 server, I had a 3rd party rcon program that i used to manage my server(i.e. kick,ban, change maps, restart map, switch maps, all at the click of a button) are there any programs like that out there for source or specifically FF?
