The only mod I've played is corkscrew. It's a fun and FAST action mod.

Not quite sure exactly what you are asking here, but, uh, long time ago TRIBES and TRIBES 2 were made downloadable completely for free. There is also a patch you need to get (something like "Last TRIBES" or "Final TRIBES") that includes the latest user-developed anti-cheat stuff.

The fun thing about TRIBES (aside from the gameplay itself) was that you could edit a map as it was being played... it was fun to have admin on a server at a LAN party and then trap someone in a box and close the lid... or play man-sized PONG with the poor bastard who TK'd you. :3
