Boycott Absolut Vodka

Its time for a boycott, and this time its Absolut Vodka.

Although it was not shown in the United States, U.S. media outlets picked up on the ad, and after a barrage of complaints, Absolut's maker said on Sunday the ad campaign would cease.

Defending the campaign last week, Absolut maker Vin & Spirit said the ad was created "with a Mexican sensibility" and was not meant for the U.S. market.

Texas won its independence from Mexico in 1838. Between 1838 - 1848 Texas was a sovereign nation with its own president, currency and laws. In 1848 Texas joined the United States. If this was a real pre-1848 map, Texas would have been outlined.

My family was in Texas before 1838. My mother is a daughter of the republic of Texas - meaning we have traced our family background to before Texas won its independence.

So no, its not ok that some company claims a foreign country owns the land my home is sitting on.

Even it the claim was that it did own the land over 150 years ago (it did)?

This just in: Native Americans claim they owned American 1,000 years ago. Mohegan Sun is boycotted by angry Connecticut suburbanites.

The add was focused on the Mexican market though. Yeesh come on every country has their own focus points.

Even Molson Canadian commercials would make fun of all the stupid ignorant stereotypes of the amercians.

Man Amercian's have got to be some of the most insecure people as a collective on this planet to worry about 1 country's advertising to another.

I'm working on a drink right now.

It's hard to find a good mix of Everclear and Vodka that won't kill the people who can't hold their liquor.

Try this one on for size, I liked it:

1/3 Pepsi
1/3 Vodka
1/3 Sake (the good shit, Japanese label, not the cheap American reproductions)

It's called Vake (VAH-key or vah-kay) and it's damn good.

Right now, I'm also working on a drink that will remain unnamed until I finish it.

There are more important things to get pissed off over than a stupid ad.

In fact, while I generaly don't put too much thought into my choice in vodka I think I'm going to exclusively buy Absolut to help offset the childishness of this concept.

Our forefathers earned this land far and square and our history may be just a tad bit smudged for a few unscrupelous actions but who is counting. Hell if the Europeans would have never migrated I am sure that the american indians and mexico would not have created the lagest economy in the world. We would still be trading bear pelts for female pubic hair woven dolls. I mean come on.........the barter system is a great way to grow a country. Sure the indians may have only help us during Thanksgiving hoping that we would stop from starving and go home. Little did they know that they helped feed the beginning of one of the most well respected and well liked countries in the world.
